I can't believe how long it's been since I was over here and uploaded something!!!  I got a few new pix uploaded today, I thought about doing more over the last few months but just didn't seem to have the energy. Hopefully I'll get out of that little rut.

Greetings All!

I am about to bring a novel to the mass market and am working on the cover art.  In doing a web search for free artwork I came across a photograph entitled "All About Xavier" and the photographer appears to be Moonglow (it's rather hard to read the very small font even when blown up a bunch). It was located on a genealogy site (of all places...LOL). Anyway, I've fallen in love with this photograph and I want to use it in the cover art. I can't afford to pay very much but I would like to do this properly and pay the photographer something.  I can't find them anywhere nor can I find the site again. I've searched everything I can think of, using Google which is what I used before, and for the life of me I can't come across it again. I've also searched by name of the photograph and photographer's handle.  Any ideas on how I can find this person?

Thank you,
Lisa

Bike Season

2 min read
I know...I know...I went a little crazy with the new uploads yesterday! LOL!  I can't help it I'm warming up for Bike Season.  No doubt there'll be two more big uploads like that before the end of June.  I'm still getting used to the new digital camera somewhat. I'm getting it down...yep, I'm getting there...I just  hope I'm ready in time for Pappy's Run on Memorial Day Sunday. (There will be a massive upload of bike photographs after that run no doubt...apologies in advance.)  Bikes and Bikers are two of my favorite things to photograph and now that I don't have to do things like reload and wait for processing I'm taking even more photographs than before.

Once again, my advance and sincerest apologies for the huge uploads to come over the warm months.

As a side  note, I'm running an awards program this year the 2008 Stargate SG-1 Blue Moon Awards (www.moonsmusings.com/bluemoon) I know there's some really great SG-1 artwork on DA so I posted on a FanArt forum regarding the awards.  If you come across any outstanding SG-1 fic or art (anywhere on the internet) please drop by the site and nominate it for this year's program.

Just a little query.....at what point, in your mind, does a photograph become a graphic?

I've been wondering about that since 'going digital' earlier this year and learning all sorts of new and interesting things with my photo program. I used the photo program when scanning prints because they often didn't come out quite right but never really ventured far into the program to explore all the wonderful things it can do.

I don't think making basic adjustments is inappropriate...sometimes it's downright necessary.  Nor turning a color photograph to b/w or sepia. I think those things are just fine and a lot of fun. Pretty much anything you could do with film or in a darkroom is ok with me.

But once I begin playing with things like 'effects' and things 'embossing' or 'watercolor' and things like that....I don't think it's a 'photograph' any longer.  That's not to say it isn't art or it isn't good or....whatever.

What do you think?  Obviously your opinion is very welcome no matter what it is.
